A Man Called Project Rector

By: Olufadi Balarabe Ayuba

In every atmosphere, people get certain nomenclature as a result of certain contributions or achievements within a social setting. In the storyline of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin as the first institution in the state, many Rectors have championed the affairs of the school. And they tried their best as leaders.

Years ago, Dr Jimoh Abdul Muhammad, the leading striker in the field of leadership arrived at the institution. All and sundry applauded the great appointment because his track record in the Federal Polytechnic Offa remains outstandingly unbeatable.

The Polytechnic community changed vehemently with distinctive plans to uplift the institution higher, the sleeping resources awake to experience ever-supportive motivations.

The first ever Kwarapoly Diagnostic Centre, Kwarapoly Microfinance Bank, Kwarapoly Bakery, Kwarapoly Water Factory And Kwarapoly FM were established within the shortest period of time.

The age-long dream of the Institute of Technology (IOT) coming to be moved to the permanent site with modern technological equipment in place for practicals, finally come to reality. The uninterrupted academic calendar, in addition to the student's and staff members' welfare, isn't abandoned but improved. Behold, the best Rector of the year.

Securing the lives and properties of students and staff remains the Rector's priority, that's why he flags off "light up campus" with the street solar installation throughout the campus which eases movement, even at night.

Many but to mention few. That's why staffers and students of the Mass Communication Department labelled him as "More than just a Rector", while other teeming population nicknamed him "Project Rector".
