Community forbids Okada operations over high price

   Babaode community of Ilorin West local government area of Kwara State has banned the operation of Okada riders in their community over high charges.


The community explained that high charges by the operators have created serious hardship for the people of the community.


In an interview with one of the residents, Mr. Lawal Abdulfatai maintained that he believes all drops within the community should be fifty naira (N50) due to the size of the community.


He wonders why there would be a sudden increase when there is no scarcity of fuel, he added that the hundred Naira charges are an act of extorting masses as the distance covered within the community is not too far.


"As we appreciate the authorities of the community for their timely intervention in the situation, and for maintaining peace in the area, we plead with the chairman of the community Okada riders to consider the less privileged masses and stand with the community leaders for peace and love to reign"…He said.


The community authority has directed the chairman of the Okada operators in the district to urgently react to the development.

  3. Both the community chairman and the Okada riders chairman should come together to carefully ruminate about the issue and find a means to ameliorate it as soon as possible, because banning of Okada operation within their geographical jurisdiction will also affect the movement of the residents
