KwaraPoly: Mass Comm Students presents advertising campaign strategy to promote Polytechnic brands

As part of their practical project in Advertising Campaign and Multimedia & Online Journalism, Students of Mass Communication, Kwara State Polytechnic, Higher National Diploma year one, on Thursdays presented advertising campaign strategies that can help promote and create more awareness on some products of the Polytechnic. 


The Students which were grouped into five, provided strategies to advertise the Polytechnic brands such as; KwaraPoly Bread, Table Water, Radio Station and the Open Distance Flexible E-Learning (ODFEL) program. 


In his address, the Director, Directorate of Students Services (DSS), Dr. Bolakale Ajadi said it is the first time in the institution where students of a department will be having such practical. 



Ajadi therefore commended the management of the department for their effort and also the students for complying, adding that, the department is doing great achievements to the polytechnic.

The DSS who congratulated the students on the achievements, hoped that by next year, the Polytechnic will graduate the first set of HND Mass Communication students. 


In his remarks, the Chief Host and Head of the Department, Mr. Sadudeen AbdulRasheed, said the practical is part of the Department mandate to display what they are doing not just to the school but globally, adding that their training does not just end at the four walls of the classroom but also made available to people outside to access. 



He stated that the department is the only one in the institution that has departmental website, adding that all their practicals will be uploaded on the website for people outside of the polytechnic to see. 


While welcoming the guests to the Maiden Edition of the program, the Chief host said it is only a tip of an iceberg, adding that they should be expecting more from the department. 


In his welcoming address, the The Course Lecturer, Mr. Fatiu Olohungbebe said the practical is part of what the students have been taught in class and to also prove to the world that the department has what it takes to do everything within the confide of communication. 


He said during their National Diploma, the students of the Polytechnic engaged in a Pitch-A-Ton competition with some Universities which includes; University of Ilorin, University of Ibadan, Kwara State University, Al-Hikmah University, Fountain University and they came third position despite the fact that they competed with 400level students. 


Olohungbebe who commended the students for their corporation, added that they were able to achieve the success within a week. 


In his address, The Chairman, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Ilorin Zone, Mr. Yusuf AbdulLateef commended the management of the department for the laudable initiative, saying that it will expose the students more on the idea of advertising. 



He furthered congratulated the students of the department as the Regulatory Council is ready to partner with the department, which according to him if accredited, we make all the students an automatic member of the council. 


The Council has also promised to work out for students representatives of any group who came first during the pitching exercise to do their mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the council in any part of the state where they serve. 

At the end of the pitching exercise, the group that pitched for KwaraPoly Bread came first, the group for KwaraPoly FM came Second, the group for ODFEL program came third, the group for KwaraPoly Table Water came fourth while the group for the second ODFEL came fifth.
