Breaking: N3.7billion Geri Alimi Underpass Constructed Under ex-Gov Ahmed's Administration Fails Test Of Time

By: AbdulAzeez Jamiu Olayinka

The Geri Alimi Diamond Underpass in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, constructed under immediate past Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed has become an eyesore.

The project was funded with multi-million naira tax payers money.

It was poorly executed as some major cracks were spotted on the underpass in 2019 just months after its inauguration.

Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi who visited the underpass had lamented the shoddy work done by the contractor, with the government forcing him back to site.

Three years after, the poorly constructed underpass has become an eyesore as damages could be spotted on it.

The past government has been criticized over this development by residents and passersby.

According to them, it's unbelievable that with the multi-million naira said to be sunk into the project, it couldn't stand the test of time and integrity.

    1. This is the real definition of Corruption in our country.
How can a government execute of Multi billion naira project and it falls within three years? The immediate Governor should have all the Contractors of the project and commissioner in charge arrested and properly investigated.
How can a government inaugurate a project that threatens the lives of the citizens? What if some people’s lives were lost due to the fall of the bridge? Would words of apology by the govt be enough as a replacement for their lives?
