By: Olufadi Balarabe Ayuba

A few days to go, precisely the 6th day of October 2022 at exactly 11:00 am, coming up is an exciting inaugural lecture focusing on the topic:- "Perspectives, Challenges, and Prospects of Part-time Studies in Nigeria Tertiary Institutions". A renowned erudite Finance scholar. Prof. Sanni Mubaraq will be the Guest Speaker. The highly anticipated event is organized by the Centre For Continuing Education (C.C.E), Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin.

This program would reflect on the background of challenges faced by part-time students across institutions of higher learning in Nigeria. The part-time programme has become attractive to local business people, politicians, senior government officials and managers of various organisations in Nigeria and beyond. These part-time learners have other responsibilities to take care of, unlike their conventional counterparts. Such responsibilities include family and work. As such, it would appear this programme is preferable to them conventional programmes.

Based on the general belief that the process of transition and the emergence of continuing education in Nigeria are often associated with certain stereotypes that are not always pleasant, the program would serve as a bridge builder which paves many ways like the limelight in the sector. These and many other interesting sub-topics would be discussed at the events, as issues bothering the part-time identity, culture and community shall also be taken care of in the course of the discussions.

This event will feature life-changing lectures from distinguished Director of the Centre, Dr Kola Babaita, while the Award of Excellence shall be given deservedly to the former Directors of the Centre and current Principal Officers of the Polytechnic, in honour of their services, commitment and contributions to the development of the Centre and the institution at large.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Kwara State. Dr Afeez Abolore. Chairman, Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Tertiary Education and government officials will be in attendance.

The Chief Host. Engr. Dr Jimoh Abdul Muhammad who doubles as the Rector of the institution alongside other distinguished personalities across the state would be in attendance to grace the occasion.

Be kept abreast of this landmark ceremony that is promising to be educative, enlightening, informative and entertaining. It's an all-rounder and well-packaged for students, lecturers, non-academic staffers and other employees of labours across the four walls of the society.

Your seat is well reserved. See you there!
