The Kwara State Polytechnic Rector, Engr. Jimoh Abdul Muhammed on Thursday commissioned the Department of Accountancy lecture room renovated by the Kwarapoly Accountancy Students Alumni Association (KASAA), 1996 set.
The Rector in his address, commended National Association of Polytechnic Accountancy Students (NAPAS) 1996 alumni set for taking the leadership to renovate the lecture room for the students, saying it is the first alumni project since his inception in office.
Engr. Abdul said despite not being the first set of graduate of the departments they are the first to take action in contributing to their alma mater, charged other sets to try and make impact in giving back to their institution.
He implore the 1996 alumni set to join hands with the institution’s alumni association to continue to make great impact and giving back to their alma mater.

The Rector however announced that that the management will be using TETFUND 2021 intervention to construct lecture theatre for the institute of Financial and Management Studies (IFMS).
While receiving the lecture room key from the alumni President, the Rector urged the management and students in accountancy to maintain and improve on the development.
Honored by the rector to commission the renovated lecture room, the Protem President, Kwara State Polytechnic Alumni Association, Mr. Abu Salam, also commended the laudable project of the set, adding that the project shows love and passion the alumni has for their department and institutions at large.
Salam said despite having enormous successful graduates from the institution, the alumni association have not come together to make good use of their numbers.
He however called on the leadership of the KASAA 96 set to collaborate with the polytechnic alumni as to facilitate more laudable project in the polytechnic like other leading universities in the country are doing.
In his address, the President, KwaraPoly Accountant Students Alumni Association tagged “KASAA 96”, Mr. Kunle Olagunju, the objective of the association is how they can give back to their alma mater.

KASAA President added that they made necessary consultation with the department to determine and ascertain where to channel their resources to for the development of their alma matter, saying that it is just the beginning as they have enormous projects in line to execute for the department of Accountancy and the school at large.
He hoped that the landmark event will encourage other alumni association of the institution around the world, challenging the past students of Kwara State Polytechnic not to forget the citadel of learning
Olagunju however appreciated the rector and management of kwara State Polytechnic for gracing the commissioning.
In his appreciation, the Head of the Department, Mr. Abdul Azeez, commended KASAA’96 for remembering their alma mater, adding that their set has the most number of chartered accountants in Nigeria which they have shown appreciation to the polytechnic by giving back to their institution
He added that when the alumni set approached them for consultation, they tendered many projects that the students needs and they picked to renovate the lecture room first.
Azeez said the alumni also planned to facilitate an e-library that will consist of the departmental books and practical instruments which will help to train student on what they are likely to meet outside.
The HOD who prayed for the alumni that they will not be disgraced wherever they are in life, appreciated the rector for gracing the event and also his colleagues for their support towards achieving the projects.
Dignitaries present at the occasion includes; The rector, Engr. Jimoh Abdul, the Deputy Rector (acad), the registrar, The PRO, the polytechnic librarian, coordinator of school medical, KwaraPoly Alumni President, and IFMS Director.
Others includes; KASAA President and members of the Alumni, NAPAS erstwhile President, Students and Ex-Students of the Polytechnic amongst many others.
