All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Mallam Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has recently engaged on a series of stakeholder visits in a bid to identify key areas of focus in his community ahead of the 2023 general elections. Said visits were made to religious and traditional leaders, pro-democracy groups as well as artisans, youth and women groups.

Shagaya’s genuine ambition to serve is duly noted as is evidenced with this activities till date. Further engagement with individuals in his constituency will show that he is known for having dialogues with community development associations and supporting the developmental projects across Ilorin West and Asa Local Government Areas.

While unforeseen circumstances and structural constraints can hinder leaders from completing certain tasks, too often do our leaders fail to adopt and implement policies due to refusal of adopting alternative methods advised by other well meaning individuals - even if they know it is necessary for sustained economic development. Shagaya, however, understands that tunnel-vision is not a sustainable trait for success but instead believes strongly in the quote by former US President Jerfferson  that reads “If you want something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done.” It is with this mindset Shagaya is set on surrounding himself with the best talents and brightest minds to actualise his goals at the highest levels even when circumstances arise.

Mallam Muktar Tolani Shagaya also understands the need for targeted transparency to regain the trust and respect of the people, and to uphold the integrity of the office he aspires for. Transparency in governance is crucial to it functioning optimally. Afterall, citizens have the right to know what their government is doing, just as much as the government has an obligation to provide that information and be held accountable for its actions. Transparency in governance can also play a key role in encouraging more political engagement and decrease the spread of fake and malicious news.

As the 2023 general election approaches, the Muktar Shagaya Movement remains committed to fostering a close-knit community by building bridges and keeping the constituents at the heart of our actions. Our leader, Muktar Tolani Shagaya undoubtedly possesses the character, integrity, compassion and goodwill to bring about progressive governance to our constituency and the state at large.

THE PLACE OF A MOTHER

By: Olufadi Balarabe Ayuba. Let her know the day she was born nakedly beautiful with tears of joy rolling down her stunningly soft cheeks.  Let her know the day she had enough words to say but could only speak through the inexhaustible care of her beloved mother.  Let her know those days she could not by herself take some walks down the road, but could comfortably tour the entire city tied on her mother's back. Let her know those days when she had to cry all night before she could answer nature's call, except lullabies were sung to ease her trips.  Let her know the days she couldn't bathe herself, compelling her mother to wake up early, warm the water, and ignore her refusal to take a bath every morning!  Let her know the day she couldn't do makeovers to beautify herself, as her mother took center stage to apply "Dusting Powder" to introduce the beauty of her Darling Princess to the world.  Let her know the days when all others had forsaken, except...
