The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on the state government to collaborate with National Emergency Management Agency in providing relief materials to flood victims in the state
This was sequel to a Motion on Notice titled " Need to Avert Effects of Flood in Communities Along River Niger in Kwara State, sponsored by Lawmaker representing Pategi Constituency, Adam Rufai at the plenary today.
Hon Rufai described Pategi Constituency as one of major rice producers in Nigeria affected with flood that must not be neglected
It was reported that other lawmakers in their contributions, urged people residing in river banks to vacate the areas for safer locations to guard against loss of lives, destruction of farmland and property
Reading the resolutions of the House, the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu charged the state government to come to the aide of flood victims through synergy with Hydro Power Development Commission to reduce flood disaster during rainy season
The House also received the Auditor General's Report on the Accounts of Kwara State Government for the year ended Twenty Twenty-one and referred it to the House Committee on Public Accounts for further legislative actions
