Director urges kwarans m to leverage potentials on IVTECH

The residents of Kwara State have been urged to leverage on the potentials of the State owned International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) to develop expertise in various skills.

The State Director National Orientation Agency, Olusegun Adeyemi gave the advice during a working visit to the college for an assessment tour.

Adeyemi lauded the Kwara State government for establishing the training institute which offers a wide range of trades and vocations in different vocational fields.

He reiterated that no matter how laudable government plans, program and policies for citizens are, when such are unknown to citizens, they won't be able to take advantage, hence the need for more awareness and collaborations about the institution.

The NOA Director however appealed to political office holders, communities and philanthropists to sponsor people for vocational education at IVTEC instead of just focusing on stomach infrastructure.

The Rector, Dr Engr. Yaro Saliu, in his remarks appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to also follow suit and empower youth with knowledge with which they can stand alone become responsible citizens and contribute their quota to national development.

KwaraPoly Students expresses grievance over Landlord acts

By:Jimoh Ridwan Oluwadamilare Some students of Kwara state polytechnic who live in Oke-Ose axis on Friday showed their grievances over their Landlord act. It was reported that the landlord of Mosadioluwa Villa at Dangiwa Oke-Ose did an ungrateful act to his students-tenants by bringing in another letting agent and demanding for another rent payment. During an interview with a marketing student of Kwara State Polytechnic Yahaya Alimat said their landlord brought in another letting agent into the house and demanded for another payment whereas the rent payment made to the former letting agent is not due yet. She furthered that the new letting agent demanded for a new payment in the presence of the landlord in which the landlord told them they will all be sent out of the house failure to meet up with the new letting agent demand, adding that they have been put under pressure to pay the rent. Jimoh Abdul Muhammed on Thursday commissioned the Department of Accountancy lecture room renovated by the Kwarapoly Accountancy Students Alumni Association (KASAA), 1996 set. The Rector in his address, commended National Association of Polytechnic Accountancy Students (NAPAS) 1996 alumni set for taking the leadership to renovate the lecture room for the students, saying it is the first alumni project since his inception in office.
