The vice chancellor federal university Lokoja , Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi has urged the 4,347 newly matriculated students of the institution to Strive for excellence, lead with integrity, and be agents of positive change in society.

Akinwunmi gave the admonition Tuesday 27th June at the 2022/2023 matriculation ceremony of the institution held at at the university auditorium, college of health sciences, Adankolo campus.


He called on the students to make the most of their time in the university adding that it is a time of self-discovery, personal growth, and the acquisition of knowledge.


 He further encouraged them to explore the rich array of extracurricular activities and students organizations available on campus reiterating that the experiences gathered will provide them with invaluable opportunities for networking, leadership development and holistic development.


Engage in sports, cultural events, clubs, and societies that align with your interests and passions. These experiences will not only foster personal growth but also provide you with invaluable opportunities for networking, leadership development, and holistic development

               

Akinwunmi implored the students to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the University. Respect the code of conduct, honor academic integrity, and treat their fellow students, faculty, and staff members with dignity and kindness.


Remember that discipline and ethical behavior form the bedrock of a thriving academic community. Federal University Lokoja upholds these values and expects every student to do the same.


 Mrs. Adedunni , A speech therapist who is a mother  to one of the matriculating student  noted that they should not get distracted by the social life on campus but rather, they should put in effort to face the challenges that lies ahead of them.


“The educational system is kind of not the way it used to be so I would encourage them to read, study. It Is not about coming to say I'm on campus but coming out with something that will benefit the society. They should put all their effort, take their time to study what they really care to do and come out to serve the nation that our expectations from them.  she advised

 

She expressed satisfaction in the education standard of the institution averring that the management ensures the standard is maintained. 

 

 According to Mrs. Ameh Cecilia Bosede, another parent the students should calm down, focus on God and remain positive towards achieving success in everything that they will do in this school.”


In the words of Mr. ameh Lazarus, Father to one of the matriculating student, he admonished the students to strive to graduate with good grade.


“Do the right thing and to come with good result the result is the best because if you finish without good result is as if you have not gone to school. Somebody who finish secondary school will be better than the person so please I advise that they should face their books, do very well, read very well and not to giraffe Inside the class he said


Ayodele  Elijah Moses one of the matriculating student  who has been at home  eight years since he graduated from secondary school expressed great excitement as he begins his journey in the institution.


I am so excited. Thank God for how far how has brought me after eight year of sitting down at home since when I graduated from secondary school. God finally did it for me and I am so happy.


He also advised that students remain focused adding that only hard work will produce the best.


It is not about doing the matriculation it is about coming out with good grades. I mean coming out with the best  so it is expected of every man to work hard so as I. Always encouraging myself that  I came from a poor background and I must not okay with my education. I'm so encouraging those who have silver spoon in their hands their mouth but nevertheless they should be serious because hard work will produce the best.
