An Open Letter to Business Administration and Management Finalists

By Ibrahim Tajudeen Agbela

Dear fellow Business Administration and Management finalists, It is with great honor and appreciation that I address this letter to all of you. We have come a long way together, experiencing the highs and lows, sharing lectures and study sessions, and building lasting friendships along the way.

Reflecting on our journey, from the time we embarked on the quest for admission to this esteemed institution of learning, it was indeed a fierce battle. Many of us faced various challenges, paying hefty sums to individuals who claimed to have insider knowledge about the admission process. However, through the grace of God, we successfully gained admission and began our academic pursuits.

Once on campus, we started to see ourselves as the "big boys" and "big girls," losing sight of our primary mission. We must not forget the purpose for which we set foot in this institution – to acquire knowledge and skills in business administration and management.

Throughout our academic journey, we encountered threats from certain lecturers who deemed attendance, purchase of their handouts, or completion of their assignments as prerequisites for success. Nevertheless, we persevered, and we triumphed in our pursuit of the National Diploma (ND).

Following the completion of our ND program, we embarked on a year-long Industrial Training (I.T.). Some of us secured placements in companies where we found ourselves surrounded by fellow students, while others faced rejections but eventually secured opportunities elsewhere. After this transformative period, we returned to continue our educational journey, seeking admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program at our beloved institution, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

Reuniting with one another was a joyous occasion. We witnessed changes among us – some have sadly passed away, some have entered into the sacred institution of marriage, and some have ventured abroad. Many are working tirelessly to finance their education. Nevertheless, we stand here today, celebrating this remarkable moment together. We have maintained peace, unity, and a deep sense of camaraderie that has made our time together truly memorable.

As we bid farewell to this phase of our academic journey, my sincere wish is that we continue to nurture and share the love we have for one another. May this love and camaraderie extend into our future endeavors, as we face new challenges and opportunities.

On this sign-out day, I want to express my heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to each and every one of you. Let us cherish the memories we have created together and embrace the promising future that lies ahead. Happy sign-out day, my dear course mates.

Your Sincerely, Ibrahim Tajudeen Oluwadamilare (Agbela)

THE PLACE OF A MOTHER

By: Olufadi Balarabe Ayuba. Let her know the day she was born nakedly beautiful with tears of joy rolling down her stunningly soft cheeks.  Let her know the day she had enough words to say but could only speak through the inexhaustible care of her beloved mother.  Let her know those days she could not by herself take some walks down the road, but could comfortably tour the entire city tied on her mother's back. Let her know those days when she had to cry all night before she could answer nature's call, except lullabies were sung to ease her trips.  Let her know the days she couldn't bathe herself, compelling her mother to wake up early, warm the water, and ignore her refusal to take a bath every morning!  Let her know the day she couldn't do makeovers to beautify herself, as her mother took center stage to apply "Dusting Powder" to introduce the beauty of her Darling Princess to the world.  Let her know the days when all others had forsaken, except...
