Fuel subsidy: Kwara Poly offers free rides to staff

​ The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has approved free rides for its members of staff. According to the management, the bus palliative is to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal by the federal government. The intervention is coming after the state governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq also approved the extension of free rides to students and staff of tertiary institutions in the state, among several other multisectoral packages to neutralise the effect of the subsidy removal. AbdulRazaq also approved the payment of N10,000 monthly stipend to all public sector workers to cope with the economic shocks created by the subsidy. BREAKING: Kwara Gov okays Wednesday as work-free for Hijra, urges tolerance, harmony

​ Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq has approved the observance of every Muharram 1 as a work-free day in the state, a policy pronouncement that fulfils longstanding yearnings of the Muslim community in the state.  The Governor approved the day in a Press Statement Signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Tuesday in his office.  “The Governor has thoroughly considered the longstanding requests from various quarters of the state. He has therefore approved that the day be observed henceforth (annually) as work-free in Kwara State, as is obtainable in many other states of the country. The president of the Association, Comr.
