KwaraPoly: Gov. AbdulRahman Project Interventions as a great scorecard

By: AbdulSalam Lekan Idris

Kwara State Polytechnic was established in 1973 as a successor to the Kwara State College of Technology. It offers courses and programs in engineering, technology, management, applied arts and crafts, and other fields of study. The polytechnic has two campuses: the main campus which is also the permanent site and the mini campus.

Years ago, during this present administration under the leadership of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq. The state polytechnic has developed rapidly in term of infrastructure and human capital development which uplift the institution among others in the country. Newly renovated IOT building, school hostels for the students, lecture rooms, drainage, diagnostic center, solar street light to enhance security among other notably projects are well applauded by Kwarans.

Recently, the Management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has debunked a media report on false claims about the institution’s financial status, commissioned shoddy, uncompleted projects, says it is misleading and inaccurate.

In a statement by the Public Relation Officer, Halimat Garba and copy made available to Prime News, expressed disappointment over the act of the online media in publishing untrue story without Fact-Checking the authenticity of the story, as against the principles guiding the ethics, with the aim of dragging the name of the institution to mud.

She furthered explained that the Old library renovation work allegedly projected by the online media outfit was not commissioned, even though it was earlier slated for commissioning during the 29th Convocation ceremony that took place in November, 2023, added that it was because the Management was not satisfied with the level of work done as at the time of commissioning.

The statement reads “For more clarification and emphasis, the projects commissioned during the 29th Convocation ceremony were:1) The Zango-Poly Power Project (i.e 33kv harmony feeder injection sub-station)This project was undertaken by the Management following the approval granted by the Governor to guarantee improved power supply to the Polytechnic, Apata-Yakuba, Oyun, Oke-Oyi and Oke-Ose Communities in Moro and Ilorin East Local Government Areas.Other State and Federal Government Agencies that are also benefitting from the Institution’s largesse are the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Kwara State Television Authority, Radio Kwara, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) amongst others.”

The Public Relation Officer however warned that the online platform ahould to desist from dragging the name of the institution into the mud, if not, the institution will not hesitate to take action against the medium.

Together, we should see the outstanding achievements recorded in the institution rather than obnoxious attack.

THE PLACE OF A MOTHER

By: Olufadi Balarabe Ayuba. Let her know the day she was born nakedly beautiful with tears of joy rolling down her stunningly soft cheeks.  Let her know the day she had enough words to say but could only speak through the inexhaustible care of her beloved mother.  Let her know those days she could not by herself take some walks down the road, but could comfortably tour the entire city tied on her mother's back. Let her know those days when she had to cry all night before she could answer nature's call, except lullabies were sung to ease her trips.  Let her know the days she couldn't bathe herself, compelling her mother to wake up early, warm the water, and ignore her refusal to take a bath every morning!  Let her know the day she couldn't do makeovers to beautify herself, as her mother took center stage to apply "Dusting Powder" to introduce the beauty of her Darling Princess to the world.  Let her know the days when all others had forsaken, except...
