#CELF 3.0: Day 1 Recapitulations


First Session: Leadership 
A lecturer from the Department of Islamic Studies, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Dr. Haruna Sanusi Lafiagi, shared his thoughts with fellows on leadership, defining it as the ability to influence and inspire subordinates to perform their duties willingly, competently, and enthusiastically for the achievements of the group’s objectives. 

He explained to them who is a leader, saying that it is a person who has a vision and ability to communicate his vision effectively to his followers for his actualisation. 

He furthered highlighted the tools of leadership to fellows which are knowledge, wisdom, competence, capacity, accountability, compassion, effective communication, mutual consultation and decisiveness 

He however advised them that as a leader, they must know their strengths, weaknesses and that of their opponent, must see opportunities and advantages instead of calamities and to be able to identify their threats. 

Second Session : Entrepreneurship
This featured the Director, The Centre for Entrepreneurship, Kwara State University, Malete, Dr Sunday Ojo engaged fellows on what entrepreneurship is, describing an entrepreneur as an individual who sees opportunities instead of difficulties. 

Dr. Ojo who is a member of the Institute of Entrepreneurs of Nigeria also highlighted entrepreneurial opportunities to them from startup to establishment, adding that entrepreneurs do not waste opportunities.

He also engaged them on Business Model Canvas where he explained that they must create values for their customers to satisfy their needs and provide better services than their competitors. 

Third session: Community Development 
A lecturer in the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Kwara State University, Dr. Fatai Akosile enlightened the fellows on the concept of Community Development, which he defined as the process of helping people to help themselves. 
Dr. Akosile who is also the Deputy Coordinator at the Centre for Community Development, KWASU, a educated them on the types of Community Development, the Principles and also the steps in Community Development.

Fourth Session: Climate Change
Delivered by a lecturer in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, Kwara State University, Malete, Mr Abdulrasheed A. Adio.
He shared perspectives on climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as strategies on how to achieve effective advocacy on the phenomenon. He charged the fellows to be deliberate and conscious in their approach to addressing the impact of climate change in their communities.
