A Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, the state capital, has ordered the seizure of a vehicle belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over a suit between John Eche Okpe, a legal practitioner, and the apex bank.
The writ attachment ordered by Justice N.D. Shaseet was signed by the registrar, and the property seized is an Innoson IVM Double Cabin vehicle with the registration number KUJ696DD.
In the case, with number PLD/J397/m/2023, Okpe had obtained judgment against the Federal Government and some of its agencies and sought to enforce the judgment via garnishee proceedings against the CBN. The garnishee order nisi is to the tune of N10m as made absolute by the judge on November 1, 2023.
The notice indicated that since giving the order, the Central Bank of Nigeria had refused to comply, necessitating the property seizure.
